MAG Up! THEE upNup Goes to MAGFEST!
This year, your favorite video game podcast and twitch channel was invited to MAGFest in National Harbor, Maryland. Unfortunately, they couldn’t make it so now THEE upNup is going as special celebrity guests! We are going to have a fun little episode that is a compilation of interviews, panels, shows, and our time on the floor at MAGfest. For now we wanted to do a fun little write-up about the events we will be part of at MAGFest and some other events that we are excited to be a part of along with the few indie games that Skim has been drooling over for the last few months.

Extra-Life Drawing
“A studio style life drawing class curated by artist Ty Derk that will guide attendees through the fundamentals of drawing from real life and capturing what you see. Learn the basics of form, perspective, and proportions as we draw from a live model in full cosplay! An amazing experience for all skill levels”
One half of the upNup, Ty Derk (AKA SkimMilk) is hosting this life drawing class in the Makerspace at MAGFest. All necessary supplies will be provided!

Guest VA’s on this panel are Anne Yatco, Cory Yee, Erika Ishii, Kaiji Tang, and Marcy Edwards. THEE upNup will do their best to test the memory of these VAs and then will facilitate a Q&A for the last 30 minutes of this event.

This panel is a comprehensive look through gamers in history, including gaming origins, gamer philosophy, and some of the favorite mechanics. Gorky is so excited for some history nerding going on at MAGFEST.

With a strong community of gamers here at THEE upNup, this panel felt like an absolute no brainer for us to attend. Always looking to improve, this panel can help us be better.

Everyone overestimates their pinball skills and this tournament is a perfect opportunity for you to really test how good you are. No pros allowed!

The creator of Adventure of Chris returns with his newest game featuring that classic retro look and feel. This developer caught our eyes with his previous game for the uncanny resemblance to our one and only Gorky but we were knocked out by how great the game was. We are so excited about what Guin Entertainment has in store with Geo Mythica.

The Transylvania Adventure of Simon Quest
Castlevania 2: Simon’s Quest with all it’s flaws and issues and FRUSTRATIONS… it is STILL one of my favorite NES games and one of my favorite in the series. Imagine playing this as 8-year-old SkimmilK! One must marvel at the strength of an NES control to survive the tantrums this game induced. Alas, it was 1988 and the internet was only an email address and silence. My father bought a VHS tape titled 50 NES Tips, Cheats, and Strategies to discover the infamous 20-second kneel. Beating that game at that age is a badge of honor I wear to this day and when I heard there was a spiritual revival coming out that saw the forest through the trees. It features non linear paths, upgrades, story, items… I can’t wait!

Little Nemo in Slumberland belongs was a 2D platformer in the same vein as Duck Tales, Cool Spot, and Aladin. A surprisingly good 2D platformer out of nowhere that really formed it’s own identity. Little Nemo & the Nightmare Fiends brings us back to dreamland.
